Horses & Art
Celebrating horses through art, June 18 & 19
Come join us for a weekend of art and horses. Plein air painters will be painting the horses and scenery; there will be demonstrations of different art techniques by artists and the opportunity to draw a few pictures yourself! There will also be demonstrations of assisted riding techniques. Find out more about riding at Willowbank while enjoying the scenery and art.

Cultural Exchange Camp
Our camps use the relationship with horses to provide a fresh, new perspective on human interactions with people who are different.
Groups of 12 campers (ages 5-9 and 10-14) will intentionally include 4 campers in each of 3 groups whose backgrounds are different. Our goal is to celebrate personal identity and develop respect for others.
Differences will include species (horse and human), and any three cultures. Examples: First Nations/African/White; or Jewish/Moslem/Christian; or ethnic song, dance or drumming…???
Cultural Input
The parents, mentors and campers of each cultural group are tasked with presenting one afternoon session (2 hours) during the week, celebrating an aspect of their culture, and including participation by all.
Parents/Mentors are also welcome to participate during any pre-determined day(s) by taking on roles in group supervision or leadership (especially choices from the morning options!), pool supervision, lunch preparation & clean-up, guiding a solo walk if a time-out is needed, or just observing discretely.
COST:
$250 per camper (5 days). Some bursaries are available on the recommendation of a social worker, spiritual leader or equivalent.
We always need Volunteers (age 14 up) to assist with components of the program that appeal. Free training is available. Negotiate a commitment that works for you!
Willowbank programs can be delivered in French, English and Body Language!
Camps run 5-days, 9:15am to 4:00pm Monday to Friday, July and August.
Wednesdays offer an optional overnight camp-out, with tents and bonfire-cooking on our private island in the Ottawa River.
Come forward with an interested cultural group and a choice of week!
Special Needs campers are welcome, accompanied as appropriate. First come, first serve!
